OTTAWA -- Canadas Colette Bourgonje, a 10-time Paralympic medallist, retired Wednesday to end a 24-year career. The Prince Albert, Sask., native is the only athlete in the world to have competed in all seven Paralympic Winter Games from 1992-2014. Bourgonje, 52, also competed at three Paralympic Summer Games in wheelchair athletics. She won three silver and three bronze medals in the Winter Games while taking four bronze in the Summer Games. Bourgonje was the first Canadian to win a Paralympic medal at home after taking silver in womens 10-kilometre sit-ski at the 2010 Vancouver Games. "On behalf of the Canadian Paralympic Committee, a heartfelt thank you to Colette for her contributions to Paralympic sport and congratulations on an unparalleled career," said Karen ONeill, CEO of the CPC, in a statement.
